A Snapshot of Binge Eating Disorder

Binge Eating Disorder

binge eating disorder

According to the National Alliance of Eating Disorders, binge eating disorder includes recurring episodes of overeating in a hurried manner and brief timeframe.  These individuals often eat when they are not hungry and can extend beyond the point of a person reaching excessive fullness.

Much like bulimia, there is a feeling of lack-of-control during a binge.  However, individuals with BED do not use fasting or purging to counteract their binges.  Binge eating disorders is the most common eating disorder among adults in the U.S.  It affects 3 times the number of those diagnosed with bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa combined.
